Welterweight: Crawford wants Spence, Danny Garcia wants Pacquiao

Currently, three boxers share the belts of four big organizations in 147 lbs. Errol Spence Jr. is the IBF and WBC champion, Manny Pacquiao is the WBA Super Champion and Terence Crawford is the WBO champion. The logical step would be for the champions to unify titles, but there are several obstacles. Crawford has been trying to get another champion to stand up to it for a long time, but has failed so far. Spence and Pacquiao are contracts with PBC, and Crawford is in contract with Top Rank and the two promotion agencies cannot agree.

Crawford, in his final despair, switched tactics and, with the help of fans, tried to persuade Spence to get a unifying fight. He made statements that Spence was afraid of him, cowardly and would say he would run away crying. The Top Rank lately, since Crawford has not been able to bring him a really serious opponent in 147 lbs, has been talking about moving up in the 154 or 160 lbs to see if he can find an opponent more easily. However, it would be someone who would love to stand against Crawford, such as the former IBF and WBC World Champion Shawn Porter, which could be a serious match, at least a harder opponent than Crawford has ever been in welterweight.

Crawford has to wait for Spence because Spence he had a serious car accident last October and although they say he’s recovered and he’s okay, he’ll probably not be back against Crawford after his forced rest. However, there could be a title match between them in the second half of the year, which we really wouldn’t mind.

The third world champion Pacquiao is the one everyone would love to fight, because defeating him would be a real appreciation for everyone, regardless of whether Pac Man is over his prime. As you say, you can become a legend by defeating a legend and he is truly a legend. That’s what Danny and Mikey Garcia want. Mikey Garcia’s reputation has been somewhat ruined by defeat against Spence. And the former welterweight champ Danny Garcia wants to be world champ again. Danny Garcia was the WBC Champion before and has only two defeats against the elite, so he can’t really complain. Altough he is among the top 5 boxers in the weight group but hasn’t been able to put a Champion belt on his waist for four years. Garcia thinks he’s better than Thurman and if he gets a chance he will beat the Filipino. “Pacquiao is a legend, but I’m a legend killer!” But first, he must defeat Ivan Redkach on January 25 for the WBC eliminator title.

According to boxrec’s database, the top 5 welterweights are Terence Crawford, Errol Spence Jr., Manny Pacquiao, Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia. Anyone out of five boxers fight with anyone can only be good for the fans.
