The WBC lightweight Silver champion Ryan Garcia (20-0; 17 KOs) is back with a quick win. It was only a half round, or even less, as Francisco Fonseca (25-3-2; 19 KOs) of Nicaragua was already on the floor from Garcia’s left hook after 1 minute 16 seconds. The young Garcia is extremely talented and extremely fast, but he hasn’t really got into serious competition so far. His current opponent has twice been world champion challenger. Once against Gervonta Davis and once against Tevin Farmer, though he was twice lost, they couldn’t beat as quickly and easily as Garcia did last night.
Garcia is only 21, and has 20 wins – 0 defeats, including 17 KOs. He wants to fight for a World Championship title against Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney. However, former world champion Jorge Linares (47-5; 29 KO) is likely to be the next, according to Oscar De La Hoya, in July. At this event, Linares also fought and winning KO against Carlos Morales in the fourth round.
