Although it looks like young Ryan Garcia doesn’t feel much to fight with Jorge Linares, who has previously won world titles in three different weight. He will have no choice. Garcia wants to fight against WBA (regular) lightweight champion Gervonta Davis next time, but Golden Boy Promotions has other plans. Because of the coronavirus,  doesn’t know when, but this year they wants to organize the Garcia (20-0; 17 KOs) – Linares (47-5; 29 KOs) fight.

Garcia’s father had previously stated that a fight against Linares would be a backstep for his son, but the GBP thinks he would rather next level, if defeating the routine Linares, who, though he was already in his prime, could still cause trouble for Garcia.

Although Garcia said he respects Linares and what he has accomplished over the past 18 years, he seems to slightly underestimate the “old man.” His plan is to knock out and retire Linares. But Linares still counts fast and has punching power. For example, in his recently fight in the fourth round won by KO against Carlos Morales, who Garcia could only defeat by decision in 2018 in 10 rounds.

Linares’ last fight:

“I’m going to f—- knock his a— out. He is an old lion. I’m going to get him out of there. He’s going to be retired after my fight. I’m going to calculate my shot and hit him to where he can’t get up. I’ll say it like that.” – said Garcia according to BoxingNews24.

As much as Garcia isn’t happy, Linares is just as excited about this fight as he can prove and win the lead once again with a win.
