Earlier we wrote that the WBO ordered the mandatory defense for Joshua against Usyk. And the IBF also ordered this against Pulev. So Anthony Joshua maybe need to choose that which belt wants to keep. But his promoter, Eddie Hearn has a plan what is good for Joshua, good for Matchroom Boxing and good for his boxers.
Hearn wants the Pulev will be the first mandatory fight in April, and the WBO wait a little. Meanwhile in March Oleksandr Usyk fights with Dereck Chisora and the winner will be next. The winner of Joshua – Pulev fight and the winner of Usyk – Chisora fight will fight each other for the WBO belt.
Of course Hearn thinks that Joshua and Usyk will win so they will fight each other. So Joshua wouldn’t have to give up any of his belts.
The question is, does the WBO agree to this? Is the WBO ready to wait for mandatory title defense?
According to Hearn, he still needs to speak with the IBF and WBO to confirm that. This just Hearn’s plan. Earlier the WBO said Joshua has to fight against Usyk on or before June 4, 2020, or within 180 days. If the WBO accepts this idea this date will be delayed.
