December 14: Crawford VS Kavaliauskas, Commey VS Lopez, Conlan VS Nikitin

This Saturday, the Top Rank is organizing a big boxing event at Madison Square Garden in New York. The main event of the evening will be fought by WBO welterweight World Champion Terence Crawford against Egidijus Kavaliauskas. Crawford is a 3-weight  world champion and was an undisputed champion in super lightweight. However, he has not yet managed to fight against big names in welterweight. The match against Kavaliasukas will be a mandatory title defense, but he would rather unify the title with other world champions. Saturday’s fight is a must-win for Crawford, but Crawford is not overlooking him.

“He is a good fighter. He is a two-time Olympian for a reason. He’s undefeated, strong and hungry.” – said Crawford about Kavaliauskas.

But the undercard will also be exciting. The IBF lightweight world champion Richard Commey will fight against the mandatory challenger Teofimo Lopez. And the winner will be the next opponent for Vasyl Lomachenko for the lightweight undisputed champion.

And the third interesting fight will the Conlan VS Nikitin in a 10-rounder at featherweight. Thw russian Vladimir Nikitin defeated the irish MichaelConlan twice as an amateur, including in their 2016 Olympic quarterfinal bout, a decision that sparked international controversy. Conlan has been looking for revenge on Nikitin for the Olympic defeat since 2016. He is very pleased to have the opportunity to fight with Nikitin again among the professionals boxers.

Conlan joined the pros in 2017 and has since 12-0 (7 KOs) and has earned the WBA / WBO Intercontinental belt in featherweight. Niktin entered the pros only last year, having only three matches so far, winning all three.

Time: 9pm ET; Fight to air immediately after the presentation of the Heisman Trophy which will also be broadcast by ESPN.
